GLACIS Glaze

GLACIS is a clear water-based, transparent glaze for the professional Artist or Decorative Painter. It is an excellent glaze for broken color work — i.e. rag rolling, stippling, marbling, wood graining, etc. Glacis (sometimes called scumble) produces a transparent, traditional oil appearance without the toxic elements of solvents. Glacis dries to a very hard, durable, water-resistant finish and will not yellow. Glacis' unique features are: Ability to work all the way to an almost dry format, allows for dry brushing, layers can be added with no need to varnish between them, no need to clear coat, and you can wash the surface after 21 days.

Best of all, Glacis can be colored using universal Tints, Acrylic tints, Artist colors and Latex Paints. Glacis can be used for both interior and exterior applications. It can be applied over regular acrylic eggshell or satin paint. Working time will vary on underlay paint properties (higher sheen = more open time). Open time can be up to 1 hour over satin. Properties: Outstanding washability and scrub resistance, excellent weathering and UV resistance, tremendous adhesion to most surfaces — i.e. metal, wood, plastic, glass, ceramic tile, plastic (test adhesion before final application), excellent brightness and color stability, compatibility with universal pigment dispersions.
